Busy Bee

A busy week!! Too busy to even get around to posting on my blog. I have not had anything funny to write about so I have just been going along with what life has been giving me!

I have been a busy bee! I worked two nights in a row at my part time job last weekend, which was good because that means money! When a person works in retail, January is a slow month. I did not have a lot of hours, but I did not really mind after feeling overworked during the month of December!

I was teaching three days this week in a friend's classroom and I was thrilled to be there. If it was not for her, who knows if I would have been teaching this week. This is a slow month for subbing, too! With state testing, a teacher work day, and another week long break coming up.. the days to sub are not as heavy! I have my friend to thank for the work and the coming paycheck. WOO HOO! As far as the rest of it goes, it seems I am busy with going to the gym, catching up with appointments, and just plain living from day to day! Cooking, laundry, cleaning... you know all that "fun stuff" (BLECK)

I have been feeling grumpy lately, but I think it is because we have a lot of snow the past two weeks! I do not like having to wear all these winter layers, put on those boots, or brush the snow off my car THREE TIMES in one day! Because of my grumpiness I have been trying new food recipes, I had my hair cut shorter than normal, and I am planning a lunch date for next week with a friend I have not seen in a month!

Love the hair cut, Loved the new recipes.. and I REALLY HOPE there is not another snow day b/c I really want to go to OLIVE GARDEN with my friend next week! LOL

Until Next time... this little queen bee is buzzing off!

Historic Day.....

I am not working today. I am in front of my t.v. watching the events in D.C. It is amazing to see all the people there waiting to witness the inauguration of the next president. I can only imagine all the emotions running through the people who are there in Washington.

This is a historic day in a country where there was once a civil war, slavery, and a civil rights era. I think it will be an interesting time as America watches this new president. I am eager to hear his speech and watch as Barack Obama becomes the 44th president !

Cold and Wintery Friday !

I have been inside all day! It was only 5 degrees outside. There was also a windchill which made it feel like a negative number outside! I was not leaving the house!

That is one perk of subbing. I knew with the fact that there was state testing and that it was cold, I would probably stay home. In fact, I stayed home and did not teach at all this week. The phone was pretty quiet, as it usually is during state testing week! With this "winter vacation" I decided to spend sometime organizing.

I am already a pretty organized person ( being that I am TYPE A ). I like order. I label boxes and everything has a place. Oh, I do have a junk drawer, but it does have little organized baskets. (I reorganized it this week) LOL. I have labelled binders from my full time teaching days & I have units in plastic bins, too!

This week, I decided to make a few more teacher binders. I also made up a science bin. I am cleaning out a filing cabinet so I can merge some files into my DH's desk. Then I will take that into the basement and save it for the day when I can take it into my very own classroom.

Now that I am done organizing for the week, I need to find something else to occupy my time. I am thinking of creating a teacher blog. Who knows ?

Happy Birthday!

Today is my DH's birthday! I took him out to dinner at one of his favorite pasta places! We came home to open his gifts and have some dessert. He will have a homemade pasta meal on Sunday with some yummy birthday cake. Can you tell the DH likes pasta??

We had a nice time chatting about work and our day. Then he relaxed in front of the t.v. and surfed the web. I was organizing some files while he read news on the web and played around some websites. I hope it was an enjoyable day for him! He is one sweet husband!

Happy B-day DH !!

Love, Lucy

Feelling Low !

I am spending the weekend at home. I had the misfortune of catching a stomach bug. It has not been fun! I spent my Thursday night and Friday in the same pattern: sleep, bathroom, Gatorade, repeat! It was not fun. I told a friend that it felt like Michael Flatley and his Lord of the Dance entourage were performing in my stomach!

I have been on a bread and cracker diet all day. There is still rumbling in my stomach and I am hoping it stops soon. I hate when I get sick. I had to call in sick to work for the past two evenings. When I don't work, I do not get paid. Being that I work Per Diem and part time, I do not have sick days!

I am glad I did not get this a few weeks ago when it was the holiday. I am also glad I have it now and not this coming week because I am taking the DH out for a birthday dinner! Hopefully by Wed. I will be as good as new!

I would not wish this on anyone!

Work Free Weekend !

I must say, I am really enjoying my work free weekend. It is Saturday night and I am home relaxing and this is so wonderful!

Friday I worked a quick four hour shift at my part time job. It was steady and went by quickly. After I bought a pair of brown cords and was given my check, I headed over to Barnes and Nobles. I love spending a cold winter afternoon sitting by the fire and reading a magazine. It is a nice way to end the week, relax, and just enjoy life! I met some friends that I have not seen in a long time. Working all weekend has kept me from having a lot of free time. It was great to just relax and chat!

Next, I headed to a few stores to browse. I ended up using one of my holiday gift cards for a new pair of shoes. ( I LOVE shoes! I would to be that gal in the commerical where it rains shoes and she is throwing them in her trunk! ) I have needed some new brown shoes for quite some time. I finally found a nice pair that seem like they will be great for those days when I am on my feet!

I came home to relax and web surfed for the rest of the night!

Today, I woke up and enjoyed my coffee and some Saturday news. I then went to mini-spin. I love this class for a lot of reasons. The teacher is great, she plays awesome music, and always tells me I am shrinking! I have not been there since September because I normally work Saturdays.

Later, I went to one of my favorite Italian resturants with some teacher friends. We all use to work together. Two gals still teach at the school. It was great to get together and catch up! For once, we talked about more than education !

Now I am enjoying some football! I love football. The season always goes too fast. I cannot believe I am watching a playoff game!! This is a wonderful way to spend a Saturday. Plus, no work on Sunday and more football for me! YAY!!

I am sure there are a lot of wonderful ways to spend a weekend, but for me this has been a great two days. It is a nice way to end the holiday season knowing it is back to work and subbing come Tuesday!

Resolutions

What is a Resolution?

According to the dictionary a resolution is "a course of action or firm determination."

At one point in my life, I use to make resolutions every New Year. As I have become older, I have become a goal setter and a list maker. I set goals for myself all the time. I make lists and cross off my accomplishments as I go. These can be daily, weekly, or monthly lists.

The biggest goal I set for myself was last year around this time. I began spinning and at first I wanted to just make it through the 30 minute class. That was tough, but I went back and every time I went it was easier. It helped that I went with my Mom and we struggled through the first month of classes together. After awhile, I realized spinning was making me feel better and look better. I love spinning and every time I go I feel like I am accomplishing a goal towards better health!

I still have a lot of lists with goals. I am determined to try and reach some of those goals in 2009. Of course with everything I cross off, I tend to ass a new goal I want to reach!

Happy New Year !

Here is to a Healthy, Happy, & Safe 2009! May all your dreams and hopes come true in 2009 !!!
