BUSY, BUSY !
Happy October! The first two weeks of October have been busy for me since I am now travelling between two schools. I really love all my students. I have two students who are stubborn and hard to keep on task, but other than that. I do enjoy working with the small groups!
I am busy with organizing the first floor of the house in order to have the wood floors refinished. It will look great when it is finished, but it will be another hectic week! My Mom is letting us stay at her house, so that is a perk. I am staying in my old room. hat should be weird!
I am enjoying a nice three day weekend. My Mom and I went shopping on Friday night to Kohl's. I found a super cute short purple pea coat! I cannot wait to wear it! We had fun looking around and chatting. I have been so busy, I have not even had time to shop. LOL
The Fall is my favorite time of year. I love all the colors and foods of Fall. Today was a beautiful fall day and it was nice to be in the sun with the yellow and orange leaves around me.
Hopefully the next two weeks will be calm!

End of Summer
Since high school, this weekend has been my sign that summer is over. It has always been back to school for me after the Labor Day Weekend. As an adult that is no different. My calendar is different from the average adult because I am a teacher. Yes, it makes me a little spoiled. I get to relax in the summer and I always know I will have a week off in December and a week of in April. It always takes me a few weeks to get back into a groove in September!
I had a wonderful summer. The weather was perfect, warm and sunny. I spent a lot of time in the pool at my Mom's and also spent time with friends. I was relaxed this summer for the first time in a long time!
I am ready to get back to work, but will miss my summer freedoms!

It's Here !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I tried to ignore it!
But here it is .................. September !
I went to work today. It was nice getting back into it, however, IT WAS 90 degrees today! I was hot during my meetings!
Right after work I drove to my Mom's and dove into the pool! It may be September but it sure feels like July! I can pretend for a few more days that September is not really here!

It's Winding Down !!
I went back to work yesterday.... well.... not really ! We had a meeting at school, then I did a little organizing. Today, I returned with some items I will need for the next three months. Then I worked with one of my partner teachers and we planned the first week. I was at school for three hours.
I have been stressing about the first week of school for awhile. Now I feel 50% less stress. I still need to find out what I am doing in the other classroom!
I have one more week of vacation and then it is back into full swing the day after Labor Day.
Yes, I love summer break, but it is winding down !

A few pictures !
I finally had some free minutes to post a few pictures from the first Nascar Race the DH and I went to a few weeks ago! We had a blast, and look forward to going to another race someday... Maybe a different course the next time around!!I love Jeff Gordon. His car was not out at this point! BOO HOO!
We had pit passes and it was pretty neat to see the cars before the race. I just happen to catch the pit crew pushing out Jimmy Johnson's car onto the track. We even saw hit crew chief in a golf cart. I just was not fast enough to get a picture. LOL
The beginning of the race! The DH took a ton of shots at this point!

It's Coming !!!!
ACCK!!!!!!!!!!
My summer break has about three weeks left. I have my first day on Sept. 1st! The first two days are meetings and workshops. I will be eased into my job slowly. Then hit full force the following Tuesday with students rushing the hallways.
I am nervous, excited, hopeful, and anxious. I feel just like the kids! LOL !
I have always loved fall and the smell of a new box of crayons. I guess it is a good thing I became a teacher!
Until then, I have some more swimming and sunshine to soak up!

Happy Friday !
Next week when I am doing nothing, but relax, visit a few friends, and of course I plan to swim!
My week started with going to the Nascar Race at a road track. It was great. Maybe next year the DH and I will get to go to regular track!
The DH and I went to a concert this week and we also went to a county fair. Today we saw Eat Pray Love and then had a yummy meal at Cheesecake Factory.
I am happy that my workshops are over. It was a long 4 days. I learned some new things and met some new teachers in the school.
I am sure now that I have been to this workshops the planning will begin!
Let's hope the next two weeks go by slow!! LOL

Happy Friday !
The DH will be dancing today after work. He is on vacation next week. He gets a double perk because I have to go for training for work next week. I am sure he will really enjoy his man space with me at work for a few days!
We have a lot planned. I am going to my first Nascar Race this Sunday. When I lived in the south it was the sport to watch. I have since added it to my love affair with sports.... hockey, football, and now Nascar. I use to be a huge baseball fan in high school, but that has since fallen by the wayside. The race should be a blast and I will post some pictures!
We are going to a concert, a fireman's picnic, and also the local county fair. I think we may also try to go to the local outside theater next week, too. With the training and all the other things going on, I will be a pretty busy all week. Thank goodness I still have two weeks of summer vacation after that!
Ahh... August...

August .... Already !
I have some workshops for my job, which will make it seem like work is even closer. I am looking forward to being back in the classroom. I am excited and nervous at the same time. It happens every year, but the first day always flies by even with my nerves and the newness of the school year!
But, for now.... I enjoy my summer break!

What a Difference a Week Makes
I had a busy week. What started out as a regular Monday turned into a whirlwind of a week.
My friend called me Monday and asked to meet for lunch. I happily agreed and had a lovely afternoon. Tuesday was busy with a 6 hour workshop. I always enjoy learning, so it was a nice day. Then Wednesday I tutored and then met two other friends for lunch. I used a coupon, so my friend could eat for free!
The BEST part of my week was Thursday. I went to tutor early and was driving home wondering what I would do for the rest of the day - GO TO THE POOL of course.
My cell phone began to ring. A ring I did not recognize, I pulled the phone out of my bag to look at the number. It was a call I had been waiting for ALL MONTH!!!!!!!!!!! No, I did not answer it because I do not talk and drive, but I could not wait until I arrived home to check my voice mail!!!!
The school I was working at last year from March to June had called me. The principal asked me back for the first semester. I am SO excited!
I can spend the month of August thinking about teaching reading and planning for September instead of feeling stress about not knowing if I would be subbing or working. I am excited and nervous at the same time!
I am so happy!

Ahh... Summer
This is how I feel this week:

One more month of joyful relaxation!
Sure, I have a workshop to go to, but I love learning, so it's all good!
Sure, I have to tutor three mornings a week, but I get to choose my own lessons, which is very good!
Plus, the DH will be off for a week, and we have some very fun days planned!
Side Note: Thank you Bill Watterson for Calvin and Hobbes. They always put life in perspective!

And so it begins................
The DH found this on the web and I asked him to e-mail it to me! Now anytime I say something cranky, I also say "No one understands crabby people" He cracks up.
Honestly, I have been enjoying summer. I have taken a teaching workshop, enjoyed the pool as much as possible, read two books, seen friends, cleaned and organized... and ate too much the week the DH was on vacation. It has been a wonderful July.
I had my first crabby day this past week - for a few different reasons, which I do not feel the need to go into right now. It happens about this time every year. I begin to worry about September, I begin to feel like I am not doing enough and summer is slipping away, and I begin to feel restless.
I often wonder........ how do people do it day after day when they do not work. I have been on vacation for five weeks. A part of me is loving life... the weather is great, I love to swim, I love the freedoms I have during summer..... but the other part of me is restless...
I am ready for my routine again... Such the internal debate I have.
Does anyone else go through this ???

I love public radio !
However, in the time we have been married, I have learned a lot and actually can participate in a conversation about current events which I could never do before we met. My DH also introduced me to NPR. We listen to it from time to time. This AM we were driving around and I turned it on because I love the Sunday morning show " Wait, Wait... Don't Tell Me" which is a game show of sorts related to the news. There was a funny little joke by one of the host which went something like this ....
A news reporter used a kayak to spy on the clean up of the oil spill and guess what they were using to clean up the oil spill.....
Paper Towels !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The host replied, "Oh what geniuses we have ... cleaning up one environmental problem and causing another one at the same time by using an over abundance of paper towel, made by trees, to clean up a spill the size of the super dome."
I could not help at laugh at the response. It was so to the point of the way people think today.... Two steps forward with three steps back! We have good hearts, we want to do the right thing for the environment... and yet we still only get about 50% of it right!
Makes ya wonder........

In 7 more days I will be able to shout:
I had lunch today with my 5th grade students. It was nice. We talked about summer plans and just enjoyed each other's conversations. I will probably have lunch with them on our sports and game day. Just in case things get crazy, I wanted to make sure I was able to spend one last lunch with them. They are moving off to middle school next year. A few kids asked if I wanted to be their reading teacher in 6th grade. That is a sweet thought, but it is just not going to happen.
I taught 6th grade a few years back as a long term substitute in the spring. It was great. Teaching reading all day was heaven, but these jobs are the ones everyone wants! To be a 6th grade teacher is nice b/c there are a lot of perks! I loved it at the time, but I really feel my place is in an elementary school.
There is not much left for me to do this year. A few remaining lessons with my other students and then we have our school picnic next week! I cannot believe how quickly the time has gone.
This job has been a precious gift. I hope I am lucky enough to have this gift again next year!

I went into to work today with intention of staying there past my required time to work on my reading conferences!Sunday, June 6, 2010
Another Sunday!
The week flew by again! I think it was partly because I spent a lot of time sleeping. I was sick!
My Normal February cold never came ... well... it came, but in June. LOL. I am not sure if the flu shots prevented me from getting my winter colds or if it was because I was such a chronic hand washer during the winter months!
Well, I went to the doctor right away on Tuesday! I had my breathing treatment and my antibiotic. Tues. and Wed. were bad with a lot of coughing at night, but those afternoon naps from 2 to 5 really helped. I also went to bed around 9:30 every night. I just felt so rested. I should go to bed early more often! LOL
The week was quick with a shorter work week and now it is the summer countdown! I will be busy with reports and school assemblies. This reading position has been such a wonderful gift, I am looking forward to summer, but I am feeling sad that there are only 12 days left with students! I pray I am back at the school next year b/c I just love what I am doing!
On that note, here is what I am happy about right now:
1. 12 days until summer vacation!
2. Watching my garden grow!
3. A relaxing Sat. with the DH !
4. Knowing my reading reports have been typed up... now all I have to do is copy and paste at work!
5. Going to Wine & Wags this week! I love helping put the puppies that are in shelters!
It's been a nice weekend! Here is to many more this summer!

Spending the day with 15 first graders is VERY tiring!Spending with 15 first graders at the ZOO is just plain exhausting!
I went on the field trip today. I was at the Zoo with kidos from 10:00 until 1:00! That is a long time to be with 6 year olds walking... LOL ! I am just plain tuckered out!
The kidos had a wonderful time. They saw the animals, the rain forest, the reptile room, various goats, and even some reindeer who were visiting from the North Pole. They kept looking for Rudolf, but he was no where to be found. We had lunch and then visited some sea otters and seals.
You have to love first graders! They complain about their feet hurting and feeling tired and then the minute they are told to go play on the playground, they are like little wild animals... LOL !
Even though I am pooped, I am happy to say, that the weather was perfect with no rain and no kids got sick, hurt, or lost.
As for me, I need a NAP!
Monday, May 10, 2010
YIKES !!!
It was too fast and there was too much going on all weekend!
I had a major scare yesterday, which I do not want to get into, but I am still in recovery mode. I am fine, but the scare was someone close to me, so I am mentally and emotionally recovering. Let's just say, it gave me an insight to the fact the life is too short and needs to be cherished.
Of course my Type A personality was TESTED both Saturday and Sunday! I wish I could feel a little me flexible and worry less. I need some advice on how to do that!
On a more positive note, I had a nice day with my Mom and my Mom-in-law! Thanks goodness for all the Mom;s in the World. Without them we would be lost... And that goes for Grandma's and Aunts, too!
I miss you Gam... I hope you are having a grand time in heaven!
